Welcome to my Website
Hi, I’m Norma Cook and I’d like to invite you into to the world inside my head, where I have been spending a lot of time lately.
I am a first time novelist with my book “The Lion’s Den” due for publication in April 2015. I never started out to be a writer. I have always been interested in creating art visually. If I was asked “What are you going to be when you grow up?” when I was young, the answer was inexorably, “I am going to be an artist.” From my photos, it is probably apparent that I don’t enjoy ‘starving’, so I guess it’s no surprise that I abandoned my early dream in favour of getting “a real job”, so I could support myself and be an independent adult person. Now, having spent eight years in banking and ten years in accounting, here I am at fifty-something realizing that I still have that creative instinct inside of me, and I’m not going to be truly fulfilled in life unless I let it out.

The story of The Lion’s Den has been swirling around my head for awhile now, inspired by the political events of recent years. I have always been intrigued by conspiracy theories, and government cover-ups and the “what if” of things not really happening the way the press tells us they did. I thought it might be fun to create my own version of the truth of what happened with the capture of Osama bin Laden, and thus, out of the nebulous of my imagination, the story took shape. While I truly believe that as modern women, we need to strive to be independent beings, I think it’s still true that most of us desire a companion, a soul mate, who understands us with all of our faults and baggage, and can offer the unconditional love that gives our heart a home. I hope you will take the journey with Della and Brad as they learn to deal with the past and work through seemingly insurmountable obstacles to be able to live and love in peace. I hope that you will enjoy their story as much as I enjoyed writing it for you.
I’m so excited that some internet savvy genius invented the blog! I have been collecting these random stories all throughout my life, like pieces of used tissue gift paper you keep in a box. Some of them are my own, and some are things that happened to my husband, friends and family, and even our pets. Some people say that truth is stranger than fiction, and that’s probably true, because many of those who have heard or bore witness to some of this stuff happening have commented that ‘you can’t write this shit’, so move over Erma Bombeck and Stuart McLean, I have a few stories of my own to tell.
